A giant city as it is, one has a great advantage in taking the subway wherever you want to go. I followed the lanes down the alleys by the hutong area. I almost felt as I was intruding on peoples privacy as I walked the mize of the brick houses. The afternoon was spent in calligraphy class and the evening offered KTV and proper chinese night life.
